The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has distributed food relief items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in four local government areas of Kebbi State to alleviate their hardship and support their basic nutritional needs.
The affected local government areas are Koko-Besse, Zuru, Yauri and Bagudo.
The relief materials comprised 900 bags each of rice, beans and maize, alongside tomatoes, to provide essential food supplies to displaced persons facing humanitarian challenges.
The items were handed over by Mr. Tukur Abubakar, who represented the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, alongside the Chairman of Kebbi SEMA, Alhaji Kabiru Bako; the Executive Secretary of SEMA, TPL Abubakar Abdullahi Tuleje; and the agency’s DFS, Alhaji Mansur Na’Allah.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the chairmen of the beneficiary local government areas expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Kebbi State Government for their continued support for vulnerable communities through humanitarian interventions.
They also commended the collaboration between NEMA and Kebbi SEMA, describing the food distribution as a timely intervention that would help address the immediate needs of displaced persons in the affected communities.
The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between federal and state emergency management agencies in responding to humanitarian emergencies, providing essential assistance to vulnerable populations and improving the living conditions of people displaced from their homes.
The distribution exercise was announced in a statement issued on October 11, 2026, by Yahaya Muhammad Agaji, Media and Publicity Officer of Kebbi SEMA.
