Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid is not based on any agreement with the Federal Government, but partly because Tinubu is Yoruba and because of his development projects.

Speaking on Sunday Politics, Adeleke denied reaching any agreement with Tinubu despite Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo’s earlier remark that “Agreement is agreement.”

“No, I did not reach an agreement with Mr President.”

Adeleke said he believes Tinubu should be given another opportunity to continue his reforms and urged him not to neglect federal road projects in Osun.

“My support is just based on Mr President being a Yoruba man and his projects.”

The governor also said he was willing to work with Tinubu’s political allies in Osun as long as they were supporting the President, but ruled out returning to the APC for now.

“As I’m talking to you right now, I’m not even thinking about that. It’s not on my agenda.”

Adeleke further said President Tinubu had intervened in some of the political and legal issues involving his administration, including the EFCC matter, and that he was prepared to pursue political solutions to outstanding disputes.
