Gov Idris Constitutes Multi-Stakeholders Committee to Engage KAEDCO on Power outages in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the constitution of a Multi-Stakeholders Committee to engage the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) on the lingering electricity challenges affecting the State.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, dated 16th April, 2026, following an incisive Town Hall meeting between diverse stakeholders and KAEDCO on the epileptic and low power supply to Kebbi State.

According to the statement, the Committee is chaired by Alhaji Usman Abubakar of the Kebbi Development Forum (KDF), while the General Manager, Rural Electrification Board (REB), serves as Secretary.

Other members include the Honourable Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Special Adviser on Power, Special Adviser on Students Matters, the Managing Director and the Regional Manager of KAEDCO.

Others are the, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ibrahim Ngaski of Civil Societies Organization, Chairman of Welders Association, Chairman of Kebbi Elders Forum, representatives of Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Rulers and the State APC.

Also on the list are the Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Council, Chairman of Wood Sellers Association, and Comrade Anache, among others.

The Committee has been assigned the following terms of reference;

to critically engage KAEDCO on all issues raised during the Town Hall meeting;

to ascertain whether there is significant non-compliance by consumers in the settlement of electricity bills;

to determine the extent of KAEDCO’s corporate responsibility to various communities;

to examine the actual quantum of electricity supplied to Kebbi State and the corresponding payments made;

to appraise all issues relating to electricity supply in the State.

The Committee is also mandated to recommend viable alternatives for improving power supply, propose sustainable and affordable electricity solutions, and co-opt any individual or organization deemed relevant to its assignment.

The Committee is expected to submit its report to the State Government within two weeks.

Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the power challenges in the State through inclusive engagement and practical solutions that will enhance socio-economic development.
