The Kano State Coordinating Team of the Safe Corridor Programme (Kano Model), under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, distributed Sallah gestures to over one thousand repentant youths across the state.
The beneficiaries were selected from a pool of previously profiled individuals who had surrendered and embraced peace. They were drawn from eight metropolitan Local Government Areas: Municipal, Fagge, Dala, Tarauni, Nassarawa, Gwale, Kumbotso, and Ungogo.
The initiative further highlights the strong commitment of the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf to youth development and empowerment through inclusive governance and people-driven social reintegration programmes.
According to the Commissioner, most of the beneficiaries were once involved in political thuggery and Yan Daba activities but have now shown genuine remorse and readiness to change. Through structured mentorship, support systems, and non-kinetic empowerment initiatives, they are being guided toward becoming responsible, law-abiding, and productive members of society.
Comrade Waiya emphasized that the programme is part of broader efforts by the state government to promote sustainable peace and security, noting that lasting solutions require not only enforcement but also compassion, empowerment, and opportunities for meaningful reintegration.
He further commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his people-oriented leadership, which prioritizes humanity, inclusiveness, and sustainable development, ensuring that no segment of society is left behind in the pursuit of unity, stability, and progress.
