GOV. IDRIS’ SITING OF MOBILE POLICE SQUADRON BARRACKS IN ZURU WILL STRENGTHEN SECURITY – DABAI CHIEFDOM
The Chief of Dabai Chiefdom, Alhaji Suleiman Mikailu Sami, has commended the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his remarkable achievements in security, agriculture and infrastructure, describing the decision to site a Mobile Police Squadron Barracks in Zuru as a major step towards strengthening security in the emirate and its neighbouring communities.
The traditional ruler made the remarks on Friday when the Kebbi State Governor’s media team, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Dabai.
Alhaji Suleiman said the establishment of the Mobile Police Squadron Barracks would significantly enhance the operational capacity of security agencies in combating criminal activities across the Zuru Emirate.
He disclosed that he was a member of the committee constituted to identify and assess the land for the project, adding that the committee successfully carried out its assignment, compensation had been paid to affected landowners, and construction work was already in progress.
According to him, Governor Idris’ unwavering commitment to security has brought about remarkable improvements in the area. He recalled that before the present administration, communities across the emirate were frequently attacked by bandits, resulting in the loss of lives and property.
The Chief noted that with the support provided by Governor Idris to security agencies and the strategic deployment of security personnel, residents now enjoy greater peace and confidence.
On agriculture, Alhaji Suleiman praised Governor Idris for sustaining the free distribution of fertilisers and other farm inputs to farmers across Kebbi State, describing the initiative as unprecedented and highly beneficial to rural communities.
He observed that farming remains the predominant occupation of the people of Dabai Chiefdom and the wider Zuru area, stressing that the Governor’s agricultural support programmes have boosted food production, improved farmers’ livelihoods and strengthened the state’s economy.
The traditional ruler said:“This is not the first time. Over the past three years, the state government has consistently flagged off the distribution of fertilisers across the local governments. The Governor has always maintained that the fertilisers are free, and they continue to be distributed free of charge, alongside machines for dry-season farming.”
He also applauded the administration for providing modern farming equipment and other agricultural interventions aimed at supporting both wet and dry-season farming, describing the initiative as a major boost to agricultural productivity.
Speaking further, Alhaji Suleiman expressed appreciation for the Governor’s extensive infrastructural development across Kebbi State, particularly the ongoing road projects linking Zuru with other parts of the state, saying they have greatly improved transportation, commercial activities and socio-economic development.
He also commended Governor Idris for rehabilitating the traditional burial ground in Dabai and undertaking other interventions that have preserved the community’s cultural heritage, noting that the people remain grateful for the Governor’s fairness, inclusiveness and commitment to the development of all parts of Kebbi State.
The Chief prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to guide, protect and grant Governor Nasir Idris success in his efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
