The Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front held a major gathering to announce its position regarding the primary election for the Zamfara North Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the event, the group stated that no credible election took place. It strongly condemned the actions of certain APC members who, allegedly involved security personnel, and abducted the electoral official sent by the party’s national leadership to conduct the primary.
The members of the group who attended the gathering that took place at Taula Arena in Gusau, came from the Kaura Namoda, Shinkafi, Zurmi, and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas, just to show their loyalty to their political mentor.
The group has called upon the APC national leadership to immediately cancel this primary election and take appropriate measures to ensure justice and adherence to electoral guidelines. Furthermore, the group’s leaders and their supporters have reaffirmed their unwavering backing for their leader, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, stating that they remain firmly committed to supporting his candidacy for the Zamfara North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The group also expressed its determination to remain steadfast in ensuring that justice prevails and that the interests of its supporters are respected.
In various statements, leaders from the local government areas within the Zamfara North district, along with their members, explicitly declared that the purported primary election was illegitimate; they noted that although they spent the entire day at the designated polling stations, no election officials ever arrived.
Instead of the arrival of election officials, only security vehicles were seen patrolling the area, causing distress and anxiety among the people.
In his remarks, the aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial seat, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, thanked his supporters for their immense effort in coming out to participate in the electoral process.
He further asserted that the exercise which took place could not be considered a genuine election, alleging that certain high-ranking members of the APC had deployed security personnel to manipulate the primary.
Consequently, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi (Wamban Shinkafi) consulted his supporters on whether to pursue legal action; with their consent, he is now set to head to court to seek redress and claim his rights.
