Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has welcomed today’s judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress, describing it as a resounding affirmation of the rule of law and the strength of democratic institutions in the country.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Tambuwal noted that the ruling comes at a critical time when concerns about the integrity of political processes are on the rise. He said the decision sends a “clear and reassuring message” that the judiciary remains committed to justice, fairness, and constitutional order.

The immediate past governor of Sokoto State emphasised that the judgment has conclusively resolved all lingering disputes over the party’s leadership. According to him, the apex court’s decision affirms the legitimacy of the leadership under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, a development he described as vital for stability, unity, and the continued growth of the party.

Tambuwal further stressed that democracy extends beyond the conduct of elections, noting that it is deeply rooted in the credibility of institutions responsible for interpreting and upholding the law. He commended the Supreme Court for demonstrating impartiality and reinforcing its role as the final arbiter in political and constitutional disputes.

“I commend the Court for rising above all pressures and delivering a verdict that reinforces public confidence in our legal system,” he stated, adding that the judgment represents not just a victory for a political party, but for Nigeria’s democracy and all citizens who believe in due process.

The senator also called on all stakeholders to respect the ruling and continue to operate within the confines of the law. He urged political actors to prioritise the strengthening of democratic values, deepen institutional trust, and ensure that Nigeria’s political landscape remains anchored on justice, equity, and the rule of law.

The ruling is expected to bring clarity and direction to the affairs of the party, while also reinforcing confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary as a stabilising force in the nation’s democracy.
