KEBBI POLICE CRACK DOWN ON UNREGISTERED VEHICLES, RECOVER STOLEN MERCEDES BENZ

The Kebbi State Police Command has intensified enforcement against vehicles operating without proper registration, concealed or altered number plates, in line with the Inspector‑General of Police’s directive to strengthen public safety and prevent criminal activities.

As part of this enforcement drive, police operatives in Birnin Kebbi recovered a stolen gold‑coloured Mercedes Benz C200 (2009 model) following a tip‑off received through the Command’s emergency communication channels. The vehicle was recovered at Bayan Kara area, where one suspect, Ahmed Sa’adu, was arrested. A second suspect, Kasimu Bunza, remains at large. Tools suspected to have been used in the theft were also recovered.

Preliminary investigation confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from Abdulaziz Abubakar Sadik of Sokoto State. The arrested suspect is in custody, and investigations continue to uncover the full details of the theft and ensure that all persons connected are brought to justice.

The Command reiterates that vehicles without valid registration plates, as well as those with concealed, defaced, altered, or obstructed number plates, will face lawful enforcement actions. Proper vehicle registration is a vital tool in crime prevention and public security, as criminal elements often exploit unregistered vehicles to commit offences. The Commissioner of Police assures that intelligence‑led operations will be sustained to safeguard lives and property across the State.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the Police Emergency Numbers: 09039911876 and 07081074395. All information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
