INEC REAFFIRMS RECOGNITION OF DAVID MARK-LED ADC LEADERSHIP

The debate had been settled as the dust gradually clears…

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through its National Commissioner and spokesman, Mohammed Haruna, has reportedly reaffirmed its recognition of the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election.

According to Haruna, the commission’s position is anchored on the existing Supreme Court judgment, which formed the basis for granting the David Mark-led leadership access to INEC’s candidate nomination portal.

As a result, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully submitted 471 candidates for the 2027 general election, including Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

This development reinforces INEC’s current position that the David Mark-led leadership is the one recognized for candidate nominations and signals that preparations for the 2027 general election are progressing under that recognized party structure.

With this clarification from INEC, the conversation has shifted from speculation to official recognition. Politics is no longer about noise, it is about official actions, legal processes, and institutional recognition.

As the countdown to the 2027 general election continues, Nigerians will be watching closely as events unfold.
