The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has expressed profound sadness over the renewed wave of bandit attacks in the state, following the reported killing of the Chief Imam of Talluje Village in Bodinga Local Government Area and two other residents by armed bandits.

Hon. Dan’iya described the incident as a painful tragedy and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the people of Talluje community, Bodinga Local Government Area, and the entire people of Sokoto State.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC governorship candidate noted with deep concern that the latest attack, which also reportedly resulted in several abductions and the displacement of hundreds of residents, further highlights the urgent need for stronger and more effective security measures across the state.

According to him, the persistent attacks on innocent communities have created fear, disrupted economic activities, and displaced many families from their ancestral homes.

“It is heartbreaking that our people continue to live under the constant threat of violence. The recurring attacks on communities across Sokoto State demand urgent, coordinated, and sustained action. Every life lost is a painful reminder that more must be done to protect our citizens,” Hon. Dan’iya stated.

He observed that the frequency of attacks and reported loss of lives in recent months has heightened public anxiety and underscored the need for renewed commitment by all stakeholders to confront insecurity decisively.

“The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Security must remain at the centre of governance because no meaningful development can take place where citizens cannot live, farm, trade, or worship in peace,” he added.

Hon. Dan’iya called on the Sokoto State Government to strengthen collaboration with federal security agencies, local communities, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to develop practical and sustainable strategies capable of addressing the security challenges confronting the state.

He also urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering, increase surveillance in vulnerable communities, and ensure that those responsible for these criminal acts are apprehended and brought to justice.

The ADC gubernatorial candidate appealed to residents to remain vigilant, continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible information, and avoid actions capable of undermining ongoing security operations.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort their families, secure the safe return of those abducted, and restore lasting peace to every community across Sokoto State.

Hon. Dan’iya reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing policies and initiatives that would prioritize security, community policing partnerships, rural development, youth empowerment, and improved intelligence coordination, stressing that the safety and welfare of the people would remain a cardinal priority under his leadership.
