The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has welcomed the ruling of the Federal High Court affirming the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the judgment as a victory for the rule of law, internal party democracy, and constitutional order.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Hon. Dan’iya said the decision of the court has further strengthened the party’s resolve to remain focused on its mission of providing credible leadership and a better alternative for Nigerians.
The ADC gubernatorial candidate noted that the court upheld the preliminary objections raised by the party, ruling that the matter concerned the internal affairs of the ADC and therefore fell outside the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court. The court further held that the plaintiff lacked the requisite legal standing and failed to exhaust the internal dispute resolution mechanisms provided under the party’s constitution before approaching the court.
According to Hon. Dan’iya, the ruling is a reaffirmation of the principle that political parties must be allowed to manage their internal affairs in accordance with their constitutions and established democratic procedures.
“This judgment is a victory not just for the leadership of the African Democratic Congress but for every member who believes in due process, internal democracy, and the supremacy of the rule of law. It further reinforces the unity and stability of our great party as we prepare for the task of offering Nigerians purposeful leadership,” he stated.
Hon. Dan’iya congratulated the National Chairman of the party, Chief David Mark, members of the National Working Committee, state executives, stakeholders, and the entire ADC family across the federation for their steadfastness throughout the legal process.
He urged party members to regard the judgment as an opportunity to strengthen internal cohesion and rededicate themselves to the collective objective of building a stronger, united, and people-oriented political platform.
“Our focus should now be on expanding our grassroots structures, deepening our engagement with the people, and presenting practical solutions to the numerous challenges confronting our nation. The time for unity, reconciliation, and constructive political engagement is now,” he added.
The ADC governorship candidate also commended the judiciary for discharging its constitutional responsibilities with independence and professionalism, noting that respect for judicial decisions remains fundamental to the sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy.
He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress and pledged to continue working with party leaders and members at all levels to ensure the success of the ADC in Sokoto State and across Nigeria during the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Dan’iya called on party faithful to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of justice, accountability, good governance, and national development.
He expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and the continued support of Nigerians, the ADC is well-positioned to provide the leadership required to build a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria.
