Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has pledged to work closely with newly elected leaders that emerged from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses conducted across the state on Wednesday.

The Governor monitored the exercise alongside key party leaders, including Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning; Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero of Kebbi Central; the APC National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu; and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, among other officials.

Governor Idris visited selected venues to observe the process, including Kauran Gwandu Primary School, where the Nasarawa II Ward Congress was held, and Justice Ibrahim Umar Primary School, venue for the Marafa Ward Congress.

Reports from across the state indicated that the ward congresses were conducted peacefully and transparently through a consensus process, leading to the emergence of executive officials for all 225 political wards in Kebbi State.

Addressing the newly elected ward executives at Kauran Gwandu Primary School, the Governor commended past leaders for their peaceful stewardship and reaffirmed that the congresses reflected the unity and maturity of the party in the state.

He noted that the presence of senior party leaders and representatives from the APC National Headquarters underscored the credibility of the process, stressing that Kebbi people are peace-loving and committed to orderly political engagement.

Governor Idris further emphasized that trust between leaders and the people guarantees stability, assuring the new executives of the state government’s readiness to work shoulder to shoulder with them to advance their wards, local governments, and Kebbi State at large.

The Governor also highlighted the significance of conducting the congresses on the first day of Ramadan, describing the peaceful exercise as historic and praying for continued harmony as party activities progress across the state.

Speaking earlier, APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, welcomed the Governor and national party officials, stating that consensus was achieved through wide consultations with stakeholders, in line with party guidelines and the law on tenure limits.

He explained that none of the newly presented ward executives had exceeded the permissible tenure, adding that the absence of appeals was a testament to the peaceful agreement reached by party elders and stakeholders statewide.

The Chairman of the Ward Congress Committee from Abuja, Abdulmalik Mahmood, a former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, confirmed that the process complied fully with the APC Constitution, noting that consensus was adopted in all wards after due consultations.

He stated that the screening, appeal, and congress committees were satisfied with the arrangements in Kebbi State, expressing confidence that similar orderly processes were being followed nationwide and commending the state for its exemplary conduct.

Stakeholders from Marafa and Nasarawa II Wards also praised the Governor’s presence and leadership, citing smooth leadership transitions through consensus, and concluded by reaffirming the party’s loyalty to the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.
