Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, has inspected a damaged culvert at Rafin Jaranja village along the Shagari–Tureta Road.
Speaking, the Deputy Governor said he was at the site on the instruction of Governor Ahmed Aliyu to assess the situation.
Alhaji Idris Gobir further stated that the Governor was earlier informed about the deplorable condition of the culvert by the former Minister of Water Resources, Barrister Mukhtari Shehu Shagari.
He said engineers from the State Ministry of Works would assess the level of damage and report back for necessary action before the onset of the rainy season.
Alhaji Idris Gobir expressed optimism that concrete measures would be taken to address the problem.
Commenting, the Chairman of Shagari Local Government, Barrister Maidawa Mohammed, thanked the state government for the prompt response.
