Sokoto Government continue to support serving and retired military personnel and families

Sokoto State Government says it will continue to support serving and retired military personnel and the families of the deceased.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto gave the assurance today at the launching of Appeal fund in aid of the retired and families of the fallen heroes held at presidential lodge, Sokoto.

Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu said that would be done through collaboration with leadership of the Nigerian Legion in the state

He said various contributions were made to the union by the State Government in order to improve the livelihood of the retired personnel so as to be able to take care of their families.

According to him the Nation owed the families of the fallen heroes debt by showing appreciation for their patriotic and gallantry which without,the relative peace being enjoyed would not have been possible.

He said nothing would be considered too much for these great personalities and therefore appealed to people to donate generously to the fund.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir used the opportunity to enumerate various support being rendered to Security Agencies by the State Government with a view to improving security in the State.

In a welcome address,the State Commissioner of Home Affairs Alhaji Isah Mohammed Tambagarka appealed to all those who made financial pledges to redeem so as to enable families of the fallen heroes benefit.

In a vote of thanks,the State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion Malam Aliyu Abdullahi Danchadi pledged that the proceeds realized from the donated would be used judiciously.

A total of fifty three million,six hundred and fourteen thousand naira was realized as donation.

The breakdown of the donation showed that the chief launcher who is also the Managing Director of ZBCC Alhaji Hussaini Adamu and the State Government gave the highest donation of Ten million naira each.

The Deputy chief Launcher Alhaji Ahmed Gohe and the Managing Director of Roads Nigeria donated five million naira each.

State legislature, Judiciary and the Chairman of the State Scholarship Board Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'iya gave two million naira each.

The rest are Speaker of the State House of Assembly Alhaji Tukur Bala Bodinga and the State Universal Basic Education Board who donated one million naira each among others.
