Sheikh Jingir needs to be called to order regarding his handling of JIBWIS affairs

In recent times, concerns have continued to grow over the leadership style and public conduct of Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the National Chairman of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), especially as it relates to his approach to politics and internal management of the organization.
As a respected scholar who has contributed immensely to the spread of Islamic knowledge in Nigeria, Sheikh Jingir has earned his place in the history of Islamic propagation. However, leadership must evolve with time, and it is becoming increasingly clear that his methods are drawing more criticism than admiration in the 21st century.

One of the most alarming issues is Sheikh Jingir’s political involvement, which appears to be shifting JIBWIS away from its core mission of teaching Islam and guiding the Ummah on the right path. Historically, JIBWIS has been known for standing against bid’ah (innovations in religion) and for promoting pure Sunnah.
But in recent years, many observers have noted that the organization is gradually being used as a platform for political influence rather than religious guidance.
Sheikh Jingir’s open involvement in partisan politics undermines the neutrality that religious leaders are expected to maintain.
This not only creates division within the Muslim community but also weakens the credibility of the organization, as followers begin to question the true motive behind certain public statements and actions.

Moreover, his treatment of fellow scholars particularly Sheikh RIGACHIKUN is both unfortunate and unacceptable.
The manner in which Sheikh Jingir has sidelined or disrespected other respected Islamic figures who differ with him is not in line with Islamic teachings on brotherhood, humility, and mutual respect. Islam encourages dialogue, consultation (shura), and compassion among its scholars.
No single individual has a monopoly over knowledge or leadership, and treating other scholars as inferior because of differing opinions only creates disunity and weakens the Ummah.
Sheikh RIGACHIKUN, like many other scholars, has a voice that deserves to be heard, and silencing such voices or calling him names reflects a form of intellectual arrogance that has no place in leadership.

It is also important to remind Sheikh Jingir and his loyal supporters that we are now in the 21st century a time when people are more informed, exposed, and critical. Blind following is gradually fading as people begin to demand accountability, transparency, and humility from their leaders.

No leader, regardless of his achievements, should expect unconditional loyalty when his actions no longer reflect the principles he claims to uphold. JIBWIS must avoid becoming a personality cult centered around one individual.
Rather, it should be an institution that thrives on collective reasoning, consultation, and sincerity.

Therefore, it is high time Sheikh Jingir is respectfully but firmly cautioned.
The elders, scholars, and members of JIBWIS must not remain silent.
They should engage him in dialogue and remind him of the purpose for which the organization was established.
Constructive criticism, when offered sincerely, is a form of nasiha (good advice) that should be welcomed, not rejected.
Leadership is a trust (amanah), and those entrusted with it will be held accountable before Allah.
