The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, known as the OK Movement, has said it will not surrender its leadership structure and operations to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that it remains an independent political movement.
The group’s National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, said this after the NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, rejected a 59-member campaign council recently announced by members of the movement.
She said the movement would continue to support Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and NDC candidates it had endorsed across Nigeria, but that this did not make it a branch of the party or require it to seek approval before carrying out its activities.
The group said it has a leadership structure at national and state levels, with records of about 2.5 million members and coordinators. It added that it was not established solely for the 2027 election but intended to remain active in Nigerian politics beyond the election.
