KEBBI DONATES N100 MILLION TO WOMEN ASSOCIATION, PLEDGES SUSTAINED EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES

The Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has donated the sum of N100 million to support women-focused development initiatives across the state.
This forms part of the administration broader commitment to inclusive governance and economic empowerment.

The announcement was made by the Governor on Sunday at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi during a large gathering of women groups under the aegis of Mugudu Tare, Mu Tsira Tare Foundation, in collaboration with the Nasara Foundation , founded by the of wife of the Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare .

The event, organised by the Wife of the Governor, Her Excellency Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, attracted thousands of women from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state and marked the official launch of an initiative aimed at supporting no fewer than 100,000 women.

Addressing the gathering , Governor Nasir Idris expressed appreciation to the organisers and participants, noting that women remain critical partners in the political and developmental journey of his administration.

He emphasized that since the inception of his tenure, women have demonstrated commitment, loyalty, and resilience, contributing significantly to the progress recorded in the state.

He stated that his administration is people oriented and committed to supporting initiatives that promote self-reliance and community development. According to him, whenever groups come together to advance their collective welfare, it becomes the responsibility of government to complement such efforts.

In recognition of the contributions made by members of the association and other supporters, the Governor announced that the Kebbi State Government would not be left behind in supporting the cause, hence the donation of N100 million.

He further disclosed that plans have been finalised for additional empowerment programmes specifically targeted at women, assuring that beneficiaries would be drawn from across the state.

Governor Idris also pledged that any empowerment support received from the Federal Government would be extended to women in Kebbi State, reiterating that investing in women remains a vital component of sustainable development.

He stressed that supporting women is never a loss, describing them as trustworthy and dependable partners in societal growth.

He called on leaders and stakeholders to always fulfill promises made to the people, stressing that his administration places high premium on integrity, fairness, and accountability in governance.

In her remarks, the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, expressed gratitude to the women of Kebbi State for their continued support and cooperation. She reaffirmed her commitment to improving the welfare of women, youths, and vulnerable groups, noting that all initiatives undertaken by her office are aimed at uplifting communities and strengthening social cohesion.

She appreciated the massive turnout at the event and prayed for sustained peace, unity, and progress in Kebbi State, expressing optimism that the partnership between government and the people would continue to yield positive results.

Speaking on behalf of the women groups, the leader of the association, Hajiya Salma Farisa, commended Governor Idris for his consistent support for women since assuming office.
She described the Governor as a compassionate leader whose policies and interventions have significantly impacted the lives of women across the state, while reaffirming the group’s commitment to supporting government initiatives.

Also speaking, the APC State Women Leader, Hajiya Aisha Gunabi, called on women to remain united and make effective use of the opportunities provided by the government.

She highlighted various empowerment programs facilitated by the wives of the Governor, including financial assistance and distribution of tools such as sewing and grinding machines, urging beneficiaries to utilize them productively for self-reliance.

The event also featured goodwill messages and donations from prominent individuals reflecting strong community support for the initiative.

Contributions announced at the gathering ranged from N500,000 to over N90 million, alongside donations of vehicles and 50 grinding machines to support women’s economic activities.

A notable highlight was the donation by the Chief launcher, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro, Executive Chairman of Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency who announced a donation of N30 million naira ,1 million Atampa Wrappers and a vehicle.

Also Hon Bello Kaoje, House of Representatives member announced an additional pledge of over N86 million from him and other donors, for the association.He also donated grinding machines and agricultural inputs to women.

The Mugudu Tare, Mu Tsira Tare Foundation initiative is designed to serve as a platform for promoting economic independence among women, enhancing community development, and supporting vulnerable groups across Kebbi State.

It aligns with the development agenda of the present administration, which prioritizes inclusivity and social welfare.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress in Kebbi State.
