Kebbi youths have been urged to embrace responsible leadership, mentorship and accountability to contribute meaningfully to the development of society.

The call was made by the Special Adviser to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Bashar Aliyu Buhari, during a one-day leadership conference organised by Jamie Pajoel International (JPI), Kebbi State Chapter.

The conference, themed “Big Vision, Bold Steps,” was aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to become effective leaders and entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the event, Honourable Bashar emphasised the importance of justice, fairness and accountability in leadership. He also highlighted the contributions of past and present leaders to Kebbi State’s development, particularly its position as one of Nigeria’s leading rice-producing states.

He cited verses from the Holy Qur’an, Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and passages from the Bible to underscore the importance of fairness and justice in leadership.

In a virtual address, the Global President of JPI, Doctor Jamie Pajoel, said the organisation had expanded its activities beyond Nigeria, reaching fifteen countries and all thirty-six states of the federation through initiatives aimed at bridging the youth leadership gap.

Doctor Pajoel reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowering young people with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in leadership and entrepreneurship.

He urged participants to share the knowledge acquired with other youths to promote mentorship, entrepreneurship and responsible leadership in their communities.

In his remarks, the Kebbi State Chapter President of JPI, Comrade Nafiu Sani Gulumbe, said the conference was organised to encourage young people to move away from a culture of blame and complaints and embrace productivity, responsibility and meaningful contributions to society.

Comrade Gulumbe thanked Honourable Bashar Aliyu Buhari for sponsoring all the participants and urged them to share the knowledge gained with other young people across the state.

Some participants, including Abida Abubakar Atiku and Luka Yohana, described the conference as an eye-opener on leadership and mentorship. They pledged to share the knowledge acquired to promote responsible leadership and community development.
