Gov. Idris Supports Ambursa Auto Crash Victims with N20 Million, Halts Convoy to Rescue Survivors

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has donated N20 million to the families of youths involved in the tragic auto crash that occurred in Ambursa, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.

The Governor announced the donation on Monday during a condolence visit to the families of the deceased in Ambursa.

The victims were on their way to Gulumbe Village for a friendly football match on Saturday when the accident occurred.

Of the N20 million, each of the five families of the deceased received N3 million, while the three injured victims received N1 million each. The remaining N2 million was shared among the other occupants of the vehicle who escaped without injuries.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Dutsinmari, Governor Idris said the accident occurred moments before he arrived at the scene while on his way to the airport.

“As the Chief Executive of the state, it would have been unfair for me to ignore the victims and continue my journey.

“I immediately directed members of my convoy to assist in evacuating the victims, while the ambulance in my convoy conveyed the injured to the hospital for prompt medical attention.

“We are here on behalf of the Kebbi State Government to commiserate with you over this tragic incident.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.”

Responding, the District Head of Ambursa, Alhaji Isa Haruna Rashid, thanked the Governor for the visit and described his intervention as timely and compassionate.

“The Governor did what was expected of a caring leader by sending a high-powered delegation comprising three commissioners and several Special Advisers to sympathise with us.

“We were particularly moved that upon arriving at the scene, he stopped his convoy and personally joined in the rescue operation by helping to evacuate the victims.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly and grant him continued success in all his endeavours.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Nayaya, said the people of Ambursa deeply appreciated the Governor’s compassion and prompt response to the tragedy.

Members of the Governor’s delegation included the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imrana Usman, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment Alh Ibrahim Jombali, the Special Adviser on New Media, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and other senior government officials.
