The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned President Bola Tinubu that rising petrol prices and the increasing cost of food, transportation, electricity and education are pushing Nigerians “dangerously close to the limits of human endurance.” The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said petrol prices of up to ₦1,470 per litre have placed additional pressure on households and businesses.

The ADC also criticised reported increases in private school fees, arguing that incomes have not risen at the same pace. The opposition party called for measures to reduce the cost of living and reiterated its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s proposal to reintroduce fuel subsidy to support domestic fuel production and ease economic pressures.
