BREAKING: Several Passengers Injured as Abuja–Kaduna Train Derails
Several passengers were confirmed injured on Monday after a train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed following a collision.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident while speaking to journalists.
According to him, the train encountered a serious incident near Asham during its journey.
He stated that although a number of passengers sustained injuries, no fatalities were recorded at the time of filing this report.
The injured passengers were immediately transported back to the Idu Railway Station where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The railway authorities have begun a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the derailment.
“It is confirmed that our Abuja–Kaduna train had an incident at Asham. Passengers were injured while an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident,” Opeifa said.
Officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation have assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
