In the ever-evolving landscape of effective governance, leadership is defined not merely by policy pronouncements, but by the courage to make difficult decisions that serve the public interest. His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Executive Governor of Kano State, has once again demonstrated such courage and vision through the decisive removal of the state’s former Head of Service.
The decision, though bold, was necessary. Reports of professional lapses, lack of accountability, and inefficiency had marked the tenure of the former Head of Service, creating bottlenecks that threatened the seamless operation of Kano’s civil service machinery. Governance cannot flourish where professionalism is compromised; it is only through disciplined, merit-based administration that public service can meet the aspirations of the people.
In a move that underscores his commitment to effective governance, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf appointed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota as the Acting Head of Service. This appointment is not just a replacement—it is a clear statement about the values the administration upholds: competence, integrity, and results-oriented leadership. Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota brings with her a wealth of experience, a proven record of professionalism, and a dedication to the principles of meritocracy that the Governor’s administration has consistently championed.
The people of Kano have every reason to celebrate this decision. It marks a decisive step toward revitalizing the civil service, ensuring that the engine of the state runs efficiently, and that every citizen experiences the impact of responsible governance. Under the steady leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano is not only moving forward but setting new standards for public administration in Nigeria.
It is imperative that the former Head of Service’s lack of professionalism serves as a lesson to all public officials: governance demands dedication, expertise, and accountability. Meanwhile, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota’s leadership promises a renewal of confidence in the civil service and a brighter future for Kano State.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf continues to prove that leadership is measured by action, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people—a vision truly deserving of the title Jagoran Sabuwar Kano.
