Strengthening Social Protection in Sokoto: Key Insights from Recent Dialogue

Sokoto SEMA Executive Secretary Represents the Agency at a 2-Day Policy Dialogue on Social Protection Financing.

The Executive Secretary of the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Prof. Abubakar Sambo Junaidu represented the Agency at a 2-Day Policy Dialogue on Social Protection Financing organized by the Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in collaboration with the European Union (EU), UNICEF, and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The policy dialogue was convened to deliberate on sustainable financing strategies aimed at strengthening social protection systems and improving the welfare of vulnerable populations in Sokoto State.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including Permanent Secretaries and Executive Secretaries of relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. Also in attendance were the Chairman, House Committee on Social Protection, as well as Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Health, Women Affairs, and Budget and Economic Planning.

The 2-day programme was held from 29th to 30th January 2026 at Kamba Model, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
