ZMSG Donates N20M To The Families Of Gummi Boat Accident

The Zamfara state government has on tuesday announced the donation of two million naira to the families of the people who lost their lives in Gummi Boat Accident.
The donation of the money was announced by Zamfara state deputy governor , Malan Mani Mummuni, who led the special delegation to go and sympathise with people of Gummi emirate,
The deputy governor told the Emir of Gummi and the relatives of the victims that Governor Dauda Lawal has mandated him to come to Gummi and register the state governments condolence.
He said the state governor was shocked when he heard that a boat has capsized with over fourty passengers onboard and most of them perished.
" Governor Dauda Lawal and his cabinet register their condolences to you and the people of Gummi particularly those who lost their love one's.
"We pray to Allah to protect the future occurrence of any tragedy that may lead to the lost of lives and properties in our dear state and Nigeria.
"With this, I will like to inform the Emir that the money donated by the state government was handed to the chairman assessment committee on last month flood disaster, Elder Salihu Maibuhu Gummi.
Responding the Emir of Gummi justice Lawal Hassan Gummi thanks the state government over the condolence visit, and assured that the twenty million naira assistance would be shared to the families of the deceased persons.
He however debunked the media reports who said over fourty passengers lost their lives, saying it's a fabricated and unfound story.
"Let me use the opportunity to inform his excellency and the whole world that, the passengers onboard are twenty when they got accident, out of which ten dead body was found and buried according to Islamic injunction, and the people people were rescued, they are reunited with their families.
"The remaining three people were also sighted after three days of searching, but due to their condition we decided to bury them at the spot.
The Emir however informed the state government that, the leader of National Inland Water Ways northwest has paid him a condolence visit at his palace, where they discussed on best they can do to provide live jackets to the operators of boats, so that they can give the jacket the passengers.
He added that, when these live jackets were provided, the lives would be secured in terms of any boat accident, adding that they wiil ensure that the board drivers comply with the directives, and anybody found wanting shall be dealth with accordingly.
The entourage of the deputy governor were, Zamfara Humanitarian Service, Zamfara Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA), among others.
