The Zamfara chapter of Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has settled 60% debt it owed Zamfara Poverty  Alleviation (ZAPA), an agency of the state government.

This was made known to journalists today by the statechairman of the union Alhaji Hamisu kasuwar Daji in Gusau the state capital.

According to him, the preceding governments of  Hon Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar have procured Vehicles to the union on loan basis under ZAPA Programmes, and since then all the beneficiaries have commenced refunding the money.

Kasuwar Daji added that, during his tenure as the substantive chairman of the union in the state he swung into action to ensure that all the beneficiaries have paid their monthly refunds as a result of this they now reach 60% of payment.

"This is part of my achievement recorded, and also before I came onboard there were a lot of accident Vehicles that were parked inside our office premises, but we have now repaired almost all of them and they are put on roads.

"I also initiated so many things that will assist our members in the state, we collect revenue and forward it to the appropriate authority for the benefit of our dear state.

"I am appealing to Zamfara state governor Bello Muhammed Matawallen Maradun to waive the remaining 40% to our members because some of the beneficiaries cannot drive due to the injuries they sustained from road accidents. Kasuwar Daji added.

The chairman also thanked Governor Matawalle for assuring them of over 120 new brand Vehicles which will be given to them on loan basis, as according to him this is part of his gesture in uplifting the standard of his people so as to avoid redundancy.
