The Zamfara state government has today condemned in totality the attacks on people and government properties by Peoples Democratic Party thugs on Sunday, when PDP gubernatorial Candidate held a rally.
Senator Hassan Nasiha, the Deputy governor of Zamfara state made the condemnation today while briefing newsmen on what really transpired during the PDP rally.
He said, despite the Court having passed a verdict denouncing the gubernatorial candidate of PDP for 2023 general elections in Zamfara state, the party went ahead and conducted an illegal rally on Sunday in which they used their political thugs and vandalised people and government properties.
According to him, this is the second time the PDP gubernatorial candidate held rally with wanton destruction of lives and public properties in the past, when he intentionally violated executive order suspending all political activities in the interest of security.
Nasiha sighted an example of APC senatorial candidate in persons of former governor hon Abdul Aziz Yari, and senator Kabiru Garba marafa who held their rally with no incident of destruction recorded.
"We are promptly to respond to those unwanted activities that became rampant by PDP candidates, and henceforth the state government will not allow some bad elements to cause unrest by making hardship in the name of politics.
"We want to make it clear that the state government has condemned in strong terms this act of vandalism by the PDP which is illegal and contempt of law.
"Despite of the efforts by his excellency Bello Muhammed Matawalle's administration to achieve peace and stability in the state, the governor has reached out all meaning full politicians, business men and ulama in the state with a view to avoiding all forms of utterances and activities capable of provoking any person, religious or group of political parties.
"We ordered our security agencies to swing into action to determine and checkmate any self seeking politician who wants to compromise our peace to get power. And the security agencies have made some arrests.
"I am calling on all All Progressives Congress APC loyalists not to take the law into their hands, you remain as you are, already you are law abiding citizens. He concluded.
