ZAMFARA AWARDS CONTACT FOR FENCING OF 40 SECONDARY SCHOOLS----COMMISSIONER
The Zamfara state Government has taken a significant step toward enhancing the security and structural integrity of public educational institutions across the state by awarding contracts for the fencing of forty Secondary schools.
This development marks the beginning of a broader infrastructure improvement initiative that will be implemented in phases to cover additional schools in subsequent stages.
Commissioner for education, science, and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, announced this during a formal event held at the ministry. The occasion featured the official presentation of a comprehensive report documenting the recent tour activities of the Zamfara Media advocacy forum (ZAMAF) across selected schools and educational facilities within the state.
The tour aimed to assess the condition of learning environments and Identify areas needing urgent intervention. During the ceremony ZAMAF also presented a letter of appointment to Honourable Commissioner Wadatau Madawaki, officially naming him the Grand patron of the forum in recognition of his unwavering commitment to educational development and reform in the state.
The forum commended his leadership and the strides made so far under his tenure to repositioning the educational sector.
Commissioner Madawaki in his remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the honour bestowed upon by ZAMAF and reaffirmed the government's dedication to securing and transforming the educational sector.
He noted that the fencing project is a direct response to the growing concerns over students safety, trespassing, and general insecurity in and around schools premises.
He further explained that the first batch of forty schools was selected based on strategic criteria, including geographical spread, vulnerability, and current infrastructural state. Then emphasized that the process would continue in phases until all public Secondary schools in the state receive similar attention.
Malam Wadatau also called on stakeholders, community leaders, and education friendly organizations like what ZAMAF has been done to collaborate with the government to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of these projects
The Zamfara Media advocacy forum (ZAMAF) observed that the fencing of Secondary schools is expected to significantly enhance safety, reduce dropout rates and create a more conducive learning environment for students and teachers respectively.
