WASH: Gwaram L.G Council Spent Over 30 Million Naira On Water Projects Repairs

Gwaram local government council of Jigawa state has spent over 30 million Naira on water projects and repairs across the local government area.

 
The local government chairman Hon. Zaharadden Abubakar stated this when he received an award of "Ambassador of water" from the Media Network Forum on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Jigawa state chapter on Monday.
 
Zaharadden Abubakar said the repair and projects includes: the repair of nearly 300 hand pump boreholes across the council area, the repair and reticulation of pipes to boost water access and supply.
 
Also construction of public Taps, repair of 56 Solar-powered boreholes in 9 communities, repair of water station across the council area, construction of 60 hand-pump boreholes across the local government area, and servicing of water facilities among others.
 
He said these achievements are only in the water section beside the tremendous achievement recorded in the provision of social amenities and security.
 
The council chairman said Gwaram local government is now witnessing changes in many sectors that are critical to the development of any society.
 
Added that these achievements underscore their passion for development and the drive for improving the quality of life of the people of the Gwaram local government area.
 
Zaharaddeen said the council's overall vision is to transform all the sectors of the Gwaram local government area, saying the council has in mind to provide basic social amenities to all the nooks and crannies of the LGA.
 
He said the council will take projects to every settlement, village, and community and create a positive impact on their lives to improve their livelihood and ultimately their standard of living.
 
He then said that the council needs participation and linkage with the state, the federal government, and private organizations, but according to him he reaches out to the sectors seeking their intervention in key areas.
 
presenting the Award, the Chairman of WASH Media Network Forum, Umar Abubakar Bosuwa, said Hon. Zaharadden Abubakar deserves the award for his hard work on the water project.
 
Bosuwa said Gwaram local government is one of the best local governments for open defecation free (ODF) in Jigawa state.
 
He advised the Council chairman to continue with the good work he is doing as the sky is his limit on achieving his good desires in serving humanity.
