The Anti Corruption And Transparency Unit , ACTU, of the Federal University Gusau, FUGUS, has expressed its zero tolerance on any act of corrupt practices and other  offences from Staff and Students of the institution.

 
At a sensitisation campaign in the University's premises, the Unit warned that any body  caught directly or indirectly involved in such practices would face full wrath of the established law.
 
The Unit through its Chairman, Dr N.A Sani  said, it works in collaboration with Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offices , ICPC, to bring the erring staff or students to book with a view of sanitising teaching and  learning processes.
 
According to him, new modern techniques were applied to detect the perpetrators of corruption and bribery in the higher institution  and therefore cautioned the target offenders to stay off from committing any offence.
 
Some of the corrupt practices that the unit launched war against  included examination malpractices, giving or accepting gratification, by an official, corrupt offers to public officers, corrupt demand by person, fraudulent acquisition of property among others and the perpetrators  are liable to be imprisoned for years depending on the gravity of the offences.
 
Some relevant stakeholders who participated in the campaign besides the various Unit's members were the president of the students representative council, Kabir Haruna president students Anti Corruption Vanguard, Ishaka Nuhu, the universitie's Image maker Umar Usman among others.
 
They all called on intensify effort in the total eradication of corrupt practice behaviours among students and staff of the university which they described as a catastrophe that hindered smooth development of the education and other sectors of human endeavours in the country.
 
Some of the students interviewed by our reporter on their perception of the way against  corruption in the universities, described it as a welcome development.
 
They also promised to shun any corrupt  act that might lead them to prosecution whatsoever.
