Tragedy Strikes Rinaye Village: Sokoto Gov Extends Condolences, Donates ₦4m to Boat Mishap Victims' Families

The Sokoto State Government has extended condolences to the people of Rinaye village in Kambama Ward, Shagari Local Government Area, following a tragic boat mishap that claimed seven lives. The victims included three housewives and their four children.
 
A high-powered delegation led by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Tukur Alkali, visited Rinaye village on behalf of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj. The delegation aimed to commiserate with the bereaved families and offer support during this difficult time.
 
The delegation comprised notable officials, including the Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Jabbi Shagari; Special Adviser to the Governor on IDPs, Hajiya Maryam D-Mas; Special Adviser on Poultry, Hajija Nasara Lawal Gumi; Special Adviser on Livestock matters,Hon Mode Yawa Shagari; Special Adviser  SEMA, Hon. Aminu Liman Bodinga; Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol Matters, Alhaji Faruku Shuni; and the Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abubakar Bawa.
 
Upon arrival, the delegation offered condolences to the affected families and community leaders, led prayers for the departed souls, and sought solace for the bereaved. They were received by the Acting Chairman of Shagari Local Government, Alhaji Mansur Rafi, and other dignitaries.
 
As a gesture of support, the delegation presented a cash donation of ₦4 million and food assistance to the families of the deceased on behalf of the State Government. The food items included four 50kg bags of rice, four 100kg bags of maize, and four 100kg bags of Guinea corn. This gesture demonstrates the state's commitment to alleviating the suffering of the bereaved families during this challenging period.
