Tambuwal Mourns Aminu Dantata, Describes Him as a National Pillar

Former Governor of Sokoto State and serving Senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has mourned the death of elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, describing him as a national pillar whose passing marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s history.

In a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Senator Tambuwal noted that the death of Alhaji Dantata marks the end of an era defined by integrity, humility, and lifelong service to humanity.

“His death marks the end of an era—an era defined by integrity, quiet influence and lifelong dedication to the service of humanity,” Tambuwal said. “Through enterprise, he empowered generations. Through charity, he uplifted communities. And through values, he inspired a nation.”

The Senator added that Dantata’s impact transcended regional boundaries and economic sectors, describing him as a towering figure who influenced both the private and public spheres without seeking the spotlight.

Tambuwal extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the people of Kano State, and all Nigerians grieving the loss.

“We take solace in the knowledge that he lived a meaningful life and left behind a legacy that will endure. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” he said.

The late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a revered businessman and philanthropist, was widely regarded as one of the last living links to Nigeria’s post-independence economic development and nation-building efforts. His legacy includes decades of business leadership, community service, and philanthropic initiatives across health, education, and social welfare.
