The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Sokoto State has been urged to sustain the execution of meaningful projects with direct impact on communities.
A lead consultant of the World Bank Third-Party Monitoring Team, Abubakar Atiku Musa, made the call during the wrap-up meeting of the World Bank monitoring team in Sokoto.
He commended the Sokoto L-PRES office for maintaining high standards in the execution of projects across parts of the state, noting that the interventions have brought relief to many people, especially livestock farmers.
Speaking, Abubakar Atiku said communities are in dire need of such interventions, which informed the establishment of the L-PRES initiative aimed at promoting livestock activities.
Earlier, the World Bank Monitoring Team Leader in Sokoto, Dr. Asma’u Muhammad Bashar, described the outcome of the monitoring exercise as a reflection of their previous visit, with many projects currently ongoing.
She explained that several projects have been completed and are already being utilized by beneficiaries, particularly sedentarization centres, boreholes, resting rooms along cattle routes, market line shades, among others.
Dr. Asma’u, however, observed that some renovated veterinary clinics are yet to be equipped with the necessary working facilities, calling for expedited action to ensure optimal operations.
In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, expressed satisfaction with what he described as the dedication and commitment of staff, especially those in the Engineering Unit, in ensuring that all projects executed meet required standards and align with L-PRES procedures.
He assured that all recommendations made by the monitoring team would be addressed and implemented in due course.
