Sokoto L-PRES Embarks on Milk Improvement and Hygienic Milk Capacity Building for Pastoral Communities
The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Sokoto State has commenced an on-site capacity-building training focused on milk improvement and hygienic milk collection for pastoral communities and livestock farmers across all sedentary pastoral settlements in the state.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Dundaye Pastoral Community Center in Wamakko LGA, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, stated that the training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to improve milk yield through enhanced breeding, feeding, and animal health practices.
Represented by the Animal Husbandry Officer, Kabiru Yusuf, the coordinator emphasized that the initiative also seeks to promote hygienic milk collection and educate pastoralists on proper milk handling, storage, and transportation techniques to ensure higher milk quality.
He further explained that the training will cover best practices in dairy farming, milk handling, and business management, helping communities boost productivity and income.
Sirajo Abubakar urged participants to take the training seriously and pay close attention to the knowledge and skills being imparted.
In their remarks, representative of the Sarkin Adar Dundaye and Sarkin Fulani Dundaye community expressed appreciation to the L-PRES project for the initiative and assured their full cooperation throughout the training period.
