Sokoto Government Warns School Principals Against Illegal Collection of Exam Fees

The Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has received several complaints from parents and members of the public regarding reports that some school principals are still demanding money from students before allowing them to sit for examinations.

This act is a serious violation of the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, FCNA, who has fully settled all examination fees for students across the state, including outstanding debts inherited from the previous administration.

In view of this, the Ministry strongly advises that no principal has the authority to collect any examination fee from any student. Any student who is denied access to an examination due to non-payment of such fees is advised to report the matter immediately to their parents or guardians.

Parents are urged to promptly contact the Ministry through any of the helplines listed below, stating the name of the school and the principal involved. The Ministry assures the public that swift disciplinary action will be taken against any individual found guilty of such misconduct.
