SOKOTO: ALL IS NOW SET FOR THE COMMENCEMENT OF THIRD TERM ACADEMIC SESSION
Parents and Guardians in the state have been charged to ensure their children resume to school tomorrow for the commencement of the third term academic session in earnest.
Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji gave the charge today while commenting on the expiration of second term holiday and preparedness of the board to ensuring early commencement of third term academic activities across all the schools under the board.
Alhaji Altine Shehu said early resumption of pupils to school remain key to the successful take up of curricular and extra curricular activities in basic schools and at the same time make it easy for teachers to exhaust their curriculum in good time.
He said as usual,the board under his stewardship will distribute teaching materials such as chalk, dusters,attendance and pupils registers and dairies among others to all the basic schools under it for the smooth commencement of academic activities.
Kajiji then called on all stakeholders in basic education such as Traditional and Religious leaders,School Based Management Committees and Parent Teacher Associations to play their expected roles to achieving the set objective in basic education.
This he noted is imperative inview of the fact that education is the responsibility of not only parents and government but all and soundry.
Turning to the education managers,the SUBEB BOSS Challenged Education Secretaries,School Support Officers and Area Education Officers among others to embark on massive supervision and monitoring of schools under them to ensure both pupils and teachers resume in time.
All these according to him would be complemented by supervision teams from Quality Assurance Department of the board as well as three other teams set up by the board to be led by Permanent Members of the board.
He used the medium to emphasize his call on contractors handling construction works of new and renovation of blocks of classrooms, drilling of boreholes,fencing and toilets to hasten the completion of the work as contain in the contractual agreement.
Also in his contribution,the Director Quality Assurance of the board Alhaji Umar Isah Bello has expressed the preparedness of his department toward monitoring and supervision of schools from tomorrow.
Alhaji Umar Isah Bello explained that officers of the department and school support officers at LGEA level would not only monitor resumption but also the conduct and commitment of teachers for effective teaching and learning.
He warned teachers and pupils against the negative culture of adding a week after expiration of holiday.
