Senator Wamakko Rejects 2027 VP  Ambition Rumors

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, also known as Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, has publicly disowned recent claims that he is pursuing the vice-presidential slot for the 2027 general elections. The Senator made it clear that such reports are unfounded and do not reflect his political intentions.

The controversy arose after Abdullahi Yerima, Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Council, made statements suggesting Senator Wamakko’s interest in the vice presidency. These remarks were published by the New Telegraph, sparking widespread speculation about the Senator’s political plans.

In response, Senator Wamakko’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Shehu Elkurebe, issued a strong statement on Sunday condemning the claims. He described the allegations as “entirely false, baseless, and grossly irresponsible,” emphasizing that the Senator has never expressed any desire to contest for the vice-presidential position, either publicly or privately.

Elkurebe further criticized Yerima’s comments as unauthorized and politically mischievous, accusing him of deliberately misleading the public and dragging Senator Wamakko’s name into unwarranted political speculation. The spokesperson demanded an immediate retraction and a public apology from Yerima for the reckless statements.

Senator Wamakko himself has reiterated his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Sokoto State and Nigeria with integrity and political maturity. He warned that he will not be distracted by opportunistic narratives driven by personal interests or deception.

Finally, the Senator reaffirmed his dedication to his current duties and urged the public to remain cautious of false political propaganda. His message was clear: his focus remains on responsible leadership and genuine service, not on unfounded ambitions or rumors.
