Student leaders and stakeholders across Kebbi State have expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for the donation of Ramadan palliatives to support the student community in the state.
The bags of rice were distributed to students’ leaders in Birnin Kebbi on Monday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Majo Muhammad.
Majo thanked Governor Nasir Idris for extending his humanitarian gesture to students, saying that the initiative reflects the Governor’s inclusive and people-oriented style of leadership.
He remarked that the intervention was in line with the Governor’s campaign promise to run a government that prioritizes the welfare of all segments of society, particularly young people and students.
Comrade Majo described the provision of the palliatives as a historic and record-breaking gesture for students in Kebbi State, announcing that the commodity would be shared among 1,500 students across different institutions.
He also highlighted that Governor Nasir Idris, being an accomplished educationist, has consistently demonstrated commitment to the development and empowerment of young people through policies and programmes that strengthen education and students’ welfare.
He further referred to the Governor as “Gwamnar Al-Ummah” (Governor of the People), “Gwamnar Matasa” (Governor of the Youth), and “Gwamnar Dalibai” (Governor of the Students) in recognition of his continuous support to students and youths.
The flag off of the distribution was attended by some student leaders and stakeholders, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Two, Comrade Akilu Haruna Yeldu, the President of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS), Ahijo Sa’idu Bakuwai, the Chairman of the Stakeholders Forum, Ladan Mika’ilu Fakai, the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Suleiman Attahiru Sarki, the President of Kebbi State Students Association (KSSA), Students Union Government (SUG) leaders, representatives of emirate-based student associations across the four emirates, Amirs of the Muslim Students Society (MSS) from various institutions, as well as other student-based support organizations.
In his remarks, the President of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS), Comrade Ahijo Sa’idu Bakuwai, expressed gratitude to the Governor for what he described as a rare and student-friendly gesture.
He noted that the palliatives would go a long way in easing the burden faced by students during the Ramadan period.
He stated that students across the state deeply appreciate the Governor’s concern for their welfare, praying for Allah’s continued blessings and success for the administration.
Also speaking on behalf of the Forum of Stakeholders, Kebbi State Chapter, Comrade Ladan Mika’ilu Fakai commended the Governor for including students as beneficiaries of the Ramadan support package.
He assured that the gesture has further strengthened the confidence of students and stakeholders in the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris.
Similarly, a representative of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Suleiman Attahiru Sarki, assured that a transparent and equitable distribution mechanism had already been put in place to ensure that the palliatives reach the intended beneficiaries across the various student organizations and institutions in the state.
He explained that a joint committee comprising representatives of student leaders, stakeholders and relevant organizations had been constituted under the supervision of Comrade Majo Muhammad and Hon. Akilu Haruna Yeldu to oversee fair allocation and distribution of the items to all target beneficiaries.
The student leaders collectively reaffirmed their continued support and commitment to the administration of Governor Nasir Idris, acknowledging his dedication to the welfare and development of students and youths in Kebbi State.
