In his efforts to make this year's Ramadan easier to his supporters, orphans and internally displaced persons, "IDPs" in the state, Former governor of Zamfara state Hon Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar has today launched the distribution of 172 Trucks of foodstuffs.
Speaking during the distribution of the foodstuffs, Yari who spoke through former senator zamfara central senatorial district Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa said, the gesture is aimed at providing succure to his supporters across the state.
He said, considering the fact that insecurity in the state has made so many children orphans, and many women become widows, as a result they have to be considered during the distribution.
According to him, the breakdown of the commodities is 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of millet, 50 bags of maize and 25 bags of sugar respectively. Which gave the total to be 172.
Similarly, the beneficiaries of the gesture include his supporters across 14 local government councils who are going to be given 105 trucks of the commodities, 15 trucks to be given to 5000 orphans in the state, and the remaining trucks to be kept for any circumstances that may occur.
He added that, incase of orphans each six orphans are to be given one bag of rice, one bag of sugar, one bag of maize and one bag of millet, "if you multiply 6×834 it will give you over 5000 orphans " he said.
A A Yari also stated that in the case of internally displaced persons in the state they would be given 47 trucks of food items, through one NGO called Zamfara Circle, for onward distribution to the beneficiaries.
"But we are going to inaugurate a 16 man committee, who are going to monitor the exercise, to ensure that the foodstuffs reach the rightful IDPs, everywhere they across the state" he concluded.
The colorful ceremony was which was held at Gidan Dawa area in Gusau the state capital was witnessed by Kogunan Gusau, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Idris, Alhaji Nabature Nahuche, Alhaji Sani Gwamna Mayanchi, Gabdon Kaura and all loyalists of the former governor Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar among others.
