The Kebbi State Police Command has thwarted an attempt by suspected Lakurawa bandits to escape with rustled cattle, recovering thirty-three (33) cows along Kamba–Kangiwa Road in Dandi Local Government Area.
The attack occurred on 3rd April 2026 at about 1700 hrs, when the armed bandits stormed a farmhouse, rustled the livestock, and fled.
Acting swiftly on the report, Police operatives, in joint operation with the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Kamba, mobilised to the scene, trailed the suspects and engaged them, forcing them to abandon the stolen cows. No security personnel were injured in the operation.
During the encounter, one bandit was neutralised, while another escaped with gunshot injuries. All thirty-three (33) cows were recovered and returned to the owner. Efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects continue.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, psc, MNIM, commends the operatives for their prompt response and effective collaboration.
The Command appreciates the continued support of the public and urges residents to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
