In line with its proactive policing strategy, the Kebbi State Police Command, in collaboration with the Military and other security stakeholders, has disrupted a cattle-rustling operation by suspected Lakurawa bandits in Bunza Local Government Area of the State.
The suspects had earlier attacked Tungan Babu Lada village, where they shot and killed one Usman Ferungu (male), aged 35 years, before the arrival of security operatives, and attempted to escape with rustled cattle. Acting swiftly, a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer, Kangiwa Division, went in hot pursuit and intercepted the fleeing bandits at Garin Mayo Village, where a gun duel ensued. In the course of the engagement, one of the suspected bandits was neutralized, while four motorcycles believed to have been used by the criminals were jointly recovered.
The operation effectively disrupted the criminal network, prevented further escalation and additional loss of lives, and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action. The Kebbi State Police Command assures members of the public that aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven operations will continue across the State in line with the proactive policing vision of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, psc, MNIM.
