PHCDA flag-off measles, meningitis immunization,  target 1.2 million children in Jigawa

The Jigawa state primary health Care development agency (PHCDA), has officially flag-off the integrated PHC services in the state.

The services that include official rake-off of CHIPS agents, measles/meningitis A, /RI/ covid-19 vaccination, vitamin A supplementation and birth registration was launched at Andaza district head house area of Kiyawa local government.

Speaking at the venue, the executive secretary primary health Care development agency Dr Kabiru Ibrahim said, it was reported that Jigawa may experience the challenges of measles and meningitis this year.

Dr Ibrahim said that the Covid19 vaccines will be administered on people from 18 years and above while measles vaccines is for small children and meningitis vaccines is mainly for nine to eleven years old Children.

He also explained that the exercise is taken place smoulterneousely across the 113,000 towns, villages and hamlets in the state.

Saying that the exercise against life-threatening diseases will be conducted in six days in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

The flagging of ceremony was held at the house of the Village head of Andaza, other traditional rulers in the area including the representative of the Emir of Dutse Alhaji Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi.

Also in attendance, were the representatives of the National Primary Health care Agency, UNICEF, WHO, and Save the Children International among others.
