Overloading of Goods and Passengers: Sokoto Deputy Governor has expressed sadness
Sokoto State Deputy Governor has expressed sadness on the way commercial vehicles are involved in overloading of Goods and Passengers.
He made his feeling known at a meeting of the State Road Safety Advisory Council held at the Deputy Governor's office.
Alhaji idris Gobir who is also the chairman of the Council said this negative trend has led to many deaths and lost of properties of the people.
The Deputy Governor therefore enjoined the Federal Roads Safety Corp and other stakeholders to take necessary action toward bringing an end to this negative trend.
He said vehicles meant for Goods should restrict to that and not indulged in overloading of goods and passengers at thesame time.
Alhaji Idris Gobir said no society can prosper when its people are not adhering to established laid down rules and regulations.
The Deputy Governor explained that the State Government owed it a duty to take necessary measures in the interest of the larger society no matter the level of criticism by few individuals.
In their separate contributions, commissioners of Justice, Transport, Finance, Health and DG RAAMP who are members of the council offered advices on how to improve safety on Roads in the state.
They strongly stessed the need for stringent measures against motorists who are in the habit of driving on one way on Roads.
Also commenting,the State Sector Commandant of FRSC Umar Adamu Argungu said the Corp would intensify effort in checking the various routes violations.
He particularly condemned the rampart cases of overloading adding that necessary measures would be taken to address the problem.
