Outrage Over Abduction, Killing of 4-Year-Old Ayman Abubakar in Sokoto
A coalition of civil society organizations has strongly condemned the abduction and murder of four-year-old Ayman Abubakar in Sokoto State, demanding justice and enhanced child protection measures.
In a joint statement, Abdulganiyu Abubakar (National President of NACTAL), Usman Ahmad Suka,State Coordinator of Child Protection Network, and Rabiu Bello Gandi,Chairman of SGBV/CP Response Team,described the murder as "a horrific violation of the child's rights."
The groups presented four key demands,that thorough and transparent investigation,arrest and prosecution of all involved,regular updates to the public and strengthening child protection systems.
They called on the Sokoto State Government, traditional leaders, and security agencies to collaborate to ensure justice.
"The safety of every Nigerian child must be a national priority," the statement emphasized.
Ayman's father, Dr. Abubakar, appealed for public support in seeking justice, recounting how his son went missing on March 29 after attending evening prayers.
The boy's body was discovered over seven weeks later, and several suspects are reportedly in police custody.
The civil society groups vowed to monitor the case closely and stand in solidarity with the family, emphasizing, "Justice for Ayman is justice for all."
