Non Payment of Gratitude: as soon as the committee submits its report, payments would commence---Sokoto Governor

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State yesterday Friday swore in a Special Adviser and three Permanent Secretaries.

Those sworn in by the Governor include: Auwwal Umar as Special Adviser, while, Abubakar Ahmed Sokoto, Sani Mohammed Tambuwal and Sada Isa were sworn-in as Permanent Secretaries.
Speaking shortly after administering the oath of office to the new appointees, Governor Aliyu charged them to be innovative by injecting fresh ideas that would further enhance effective service delivery in the State.
He said the present administration is introducing measures to give Sokoto State the kind of civil service it requires and charged the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries to ensure commitment, hard work and dedication to work.
"You should carry all your staff along in running the affairs of your respective departments so that together we can move the State to greater heights.
"Be rest assured that as a responsible government, we will continue to introduce measures that would facilitate effective service delivery in our dear State,"Aliyu added.
Alhaji Aliyu, who described civil servants as key players who guide the general direction of the civil service, charged them to desist from laxity to work.
Governor Aliyu also restated his administration's resolve to revamp the civil service, and as well ensure the welfare of the civil servants.
"Since we came on board, we have ensured the prompt payment of salaries and we restored the monthly cash allocations to MDA's in order to boost the morale of our workers," he said.
The governor also said his administration has set up a committee to verify genuine retirees who were intentionally denied their gratuity by the immediate past administration, adding that as soon as the committee submits its report, payments would commence.
Aliyu to this end, called on the civil servants in the State to reciprocate the magnanimous gesture by being dedicated to their duties.
