Niger state government is to establish the State Refugees Commission with five hundred million for its take-off to carter for the Internally Displaced Persons across the State.
State Governor Alh Umar Mohammed Bago announced this after making symbolic presentations to some of the 700 households beneficiaries of the relief materials from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons held in Minna.
Alh Umar Bago observed with dismay the high number of IDPs in the State saying that the Commission would effectively address the difficulties faced by the IDPs.
According to him the State Refugees Commission will operate under the Niger state Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
The Governor further explained that the State Government will from its reserve, distribute thirteen thousand bags of grains to the IDPs in the state.
He however assured that the State Government will continue to do its best to ameliorate the sufferings of the IDPs in the State.
