NCDC TRAINS HEALTH EDUCATORS ON INFODEMIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN JIGAWA

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control  NCDC, has trained Health Educators and the Media in Jigawa state on how to control rumors on health issues within the communities.

 
The training focused on how to Identify, Simplify, amplify and quantify the rumors against vaccines and other health related issues in the state.
 
This is coming during the Three-day state training to strengthen the existing Infodemic management systems for Covid-19, ATM and Emerging and re-emerging Infections organized by NCDC with the support from Global Fund held in Dutse on the 27-29th June, 2022.
 
Dr. Aishatu Bintu Gubiyo, one of the Facilitators, said the expected outcome of the training is improved info-surveillance on Covid-19, ATM, and Emerging/re-emerging Infections in the state.
 
And trained state officers on Infodemic management, development of state specific community-based rumor log.
 
Also Development Infodemic management trend report and finally setting up of state Infodemic management team.
 
In his statement, the state health educator Alhaji Ibrahim Yahuza Darai, said rumors are a dangerous act that is affecting disease prevention in the society.
 
Darai called on the participants to pay more attention and learn how to control and manage rumors and misinformation on any health issues in the community.
 
Infodemic management in Nigeria during Covid-19 pandemic from the existing mechanism for addressing perception and risk behavior.
 
It commenced through leveraging on events based surveillance systems.
 
The objectives of the training is to support continuous monitoring and analyses of data and information exchange patterns on online and offline platforms to detect misinformation or other falsehoods and counter them with facts or other interventions.
