KEDCO apologizes for shortage of power Supply in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States
By Ibrahim Hamisu, Kano.
The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Plc. (KEDCO) has apologized to their esteemed customers across their entire franchise states of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa for the recent shortage in electricity supply.
This is largely due to the low allocation of megawatts to KEDCO, for distribution.
In a statement sing by KEDCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Sani Bala Sani on Friday, said
“against an average of 280MW load allocation KEDCO now receives an average of 140MW, a shortfall of 140MW, which is grossly inadequate to go round all our customers sufficiently”
He explained that KEDCO is only responsible for distributing what is allocated to them by the National Control Centre (NCC) which has been constantly reviewed downwards and it has been responsible for the shortage of power supply to their customers.
According to Sani, the Management of KEDCO has assured their valued customers that they are engaging all necessary stakeholders to find a lasting solution that will facilitate improved electricity supply to their customers.
“Therefore, we are optimistic and confident that the supply situation will improve as soon as possible”
“Furthermore, we wish to reiterate that we remain committed to distributing adequate electricity safely and reliably for our customers’ satisfaction and sustainable business growth; but that is being hindered occasionally by unforeseen generation and transmission challenges which are beyond our immediate control”
“In view of this, we appeal to our customers to remain patient while we engage and resolve the bottlenecks with the relevant stakeholders in the electricity value chain” Sani Bala revealed.
