Joint taskforce operation rescues 3 victims, arrests 5 bandits in Shanga

A joint operation involving the Nigerian Military, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilantes has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims and apprehended five suspected bandits in Sangara Bush, Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The operation, which took place on Friday, also led to the neutralization of several other bandits during a fierce exchange of gunfire between the security forces and the criminals.

The Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji AbdulRahman Zagga, disclosed the development while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

He revealed that the arrested bandits were part of a group that had been terrorizing residents along the Shanga–Tungan Giwa–Birnin Yauri axis.

“With this operation, security personnel in the area are on high alert, closely monitoring movements in and out of the area.

" Thankfully, no casualties have been recorded among the security forces,” he said.

Zagga commended the gallant troops for their vigilance and unwavering commitment to the ongoing fight against banditry in the state.

He also praised Gov. Nasir Idris for his continued support and provision of critical logistics to security agencies, which had significantly bolstered their morales and enhanced their operations.
