Comrade Nasiru Ahmed Adamu Zabarma a spokesman of gubernatorial candidate, Ibrahim Shehu Gusau faction under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that by implication, his opponent, Dr, Dauda Lawan Dare is not a bonafide member of the Party.
Zabarma made the assertion in an interview with newsmen while expressing their stand on the just concluded PDP governorship primaries held in Gusau the state capital which ended with Dauda Lawan Dare as winner of the election.
He said, "I have my reasons for saying that Dr Dauda Lawan Dare is not a bonafide member of our great party, considering the way and manner he managed to defect from his party APC to PDP, there are a lot of irregularities there in the exercise."
"If I am not mistaken, Doctor Dauda bought nomination form on 22/4/22, and also obtained PDP membership card on 24/5/22, a month before the governorship primaries, if I may asked how did he fill the nomination form, as in filling the nomination form one must put his membership card number, he filled the form before obtaining membership card, that means he violated the PDP constitutions.
"Also Our party constitution says that no member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the right to contest any political position till he spent two and a half years as a member of the party.
"But due to the increasing number of defectors, the party addressed it to six months, and as time went on they reduced it to one year up to the time they said one can join PDP today and contest for any political position, but on condition of waiver.
"A waiver can be done after following due process, I mean you will write a letter to ward executives requesting them for a waiver that you are contesting for a political seat under that party, if they are satisfied with your reasons then they will write to your local government party executives.
"If the local government party executives received the application they will also write to the state up to the National Working Committee at Abuja National Secretariat, from there they will approve and give a waiver to contest". Comrade lamented.
Comrade Zabarma added that with these simple reasons, I don't think Dauda Lawan can become a real party member without contesting a governorship seat under the PDP. Because I know he has not fulfilled all these obligations.
