A broad spectrum of groups, associations, labour unions, religious bodies, community leaders and government officials on Thursday paid traditional Sallah homage to the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, reaffirming their loyalty, solidarity and continued support for his administration.

The homage, held at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, was received on behalf of the Governor by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, who conveyed Governor Idris’ goodwill message to the visiting delegations, including civil servants, politicians, traditional and religious groups, as well as organisations such as JIBWIS, CAN, NLC, TUC, NUJ, ALGON, Councillors, Zabarmawa, Miyetti Allah, NURTW, NATO, COHEADS and several other community-based associations.

In the Governor’s message, Senator Tafida thanked Almighty Allah for granting the people of Kebbi State the opportunity to witness and celebrate Eid-el-Fitr after the successful completion of Ramadan.

He noted that Governor Nasir Idris regretted his inability to personally attend the gathering due to unforeseen circumstances, but expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support, prayers, loyalty and constructive advice consistently offered by the people of the state.

The Deputy Governor stated that the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare, peace, unity and development of Kebbi State, urging the people to continue supporting government programmes and policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

Governor Idris also called on the people to uphold the lessons of Ramadan by promoting kindness, charity, compassion and support for the less privileged, while appealing for unity, peaceful coexistence and fear of Allah.

He warned against envy, malice, drug abuse and other social vices, especially among the youth, stressing the need for proper upbringing, education and moral guidance for the younger generation.

He further assured that his administration would continue to deliver more dividends of democracy across key sectors, particularly health, education, infrastructure, security and social welfare.

In their separate goodwill messages, the various groups unanimously praised Governor Nasir Idris for his people-oriented leadership, prompt payment of salaries, empowerment programmes, improved security, equitable distribution of palliatives and visible developmental projects across the state.

Among those who spoke were the State Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar, on behalf of civil servants; the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Samaila Bagudo, on behalf of the Assembly; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Dutsinmari, on behalf of commissioners; Hon. Zaiyanu Sanka, for Special Advisers; Prof. Suleiman Khalid Jega, for heads of boards and parastatals; and Comrade Murtala Usman, who spoke on behalf of the NLC, TUC, NUJ and other labour leaders.

The Conference of Heads of Federal Government Agencies (COHEADS) also commended the Governor for extending palliatives to their members, noting that Kebbi State hosts no fewer than 91 federal government agencies.

Other groups, including ALGON, Councillors, Zabarmawa, Miyetti Allah, NURTW, NATO, JIBWIS, CAN and several community associations, equally pledged continued support and solidarity with the administration.

The highlight of the occasion was the distribution of Sallah cash gifts to persons with disabilities by Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Deputy Governor, as part of the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, compassion and support for vulnerable members of society.
